Our CIT program will return in Summer 2012!
This year WJCC will be offering two Counselor-In-Training (CIT) programs. One will be a part-time program with the Early Childhood Education Center's Camp Sameach working with children age 3-5, the other will be a full-time program with Westside JCC's Super Duper Arts Camp working with children ages 4-12. Part-Time Early Childhood Education Camp Sameach Program
What do CITs do?
CITs will work in the Camp Sameach Preschool camp with children aged 3-5 years old. They will assist the classroom teachers with activities including art projects, cooking, story time outside play and more.
What does the program include?
Teens will be required to participate in a one-day training prior to the start of camp. Once camp starts, teens will meet once a week for lunch and training with the CIT Coordinator. During these trainings we will focus on child development, safety, leadership skills and teamwork. Community service hours are available and all CITs will receive a Certificate of Recognition at the end of the program.
Details:
-Open to anyone entering 8th-12th grade in the Fall of 2012
-Part-time shifts: M/W or T/Th/F from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
-Two sessions to choose from: July 2012, August 2012, or both.
-$100 enrollment fee per 4 week session*
*Enrollment fee includes 2 Camp Sameach T-Shirts, once a week training lunch and materials and the end of session party.

Full-Time Super Duper Arts Camp Program

What do CITs do?
CITs help both campers ages 4-12 and counselors in going about thier day of learning and having fun, while getting valuable on-the-job-training on how to be a responsible and proactive leader.
What does the program include?
After an initial training, CITS will jump right into working alongside SDAC experienced and trained counselors, and will have on-going training and instruction throughout the summer. CITS will be assigned to a particular group, counselor or specialist and receive on-going mentorship from the CIT Coordinator. They will also particpate in weekly CIT round-table meetings in order to share and learn from other CITS. They will recieve education and workshops in child development, safety, leadership skills and teamwork. They will help lead projects and activities that include mural painting, set design, gardening, games, performances, and Fun Friday planning and facilitation.
Beyond that, CITs will participate in camp activities such as art, theater, cooking, yoga, circus arts, dance, filmmaking, wood-working, music recording, photography, improv, play performance, music video, stomp, swimming. and field trips. CITs will have their own twice per session nights out that can include pizza, hanging out, etc., the occasional outdoor excursion, and an end of session party.

-Full Time Shifts: M-F/ 9:00 am to 3:30 pm*
-Initial CIT Training**
-There is a 4-week minimum commitment.
-$200 enrollment fee per 4 week session, CITs can enroll for as many sessions as they would like.
*CITs also have a weekly Monday 8:00 am meeting.
**ALL CITS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND.
