2017 JCC Maccabi Games Overview

Team Los Angeles-Westside JCC invites Jewish teen athletes ages 13-16 years old to represent the LA Jewish Community at one of the largest Jewish youth events in the world. The JCC Maccabi Games is a weeklong Olympic-style event tournament complete with opening and closing ceremonies, passing of the torch, and Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals. The Games are hosted by different cities around North America each summer. Over 3,000 teenagers from around the world compete in a variety of sports, participate in fun, meaningful community-service projects, and experience home hospitality and evening social events.

Members of Team LA-Westside JCC not only attend the Games, but also connect with the program throughout the summer at team practices, community service and volunteer at SOVA, social events (like Jewish Community Day at Dodger Stadium), leadership programs and more! Additionally, this summer our delegation will fly in early to each host community to celebrate Shabbat together, bond as a delegation, and get to know the host community better before the official Games programming begins.

The 2017 JCC Maccabi Games will be held in the following cities:

Birmingham, AL: JCC Maccabi Games, July 28 - August 4, 2017

Albany, NY: JCC Maccabi Games and ArtsFest, August 4 - August 11, 2017

 Testimonials

“Our children had the most amazing experience at the JCC Maccabi Games. They loved being with other Jewish teens from other states and countries. Thanks to the great WJCC staff for organizing such amazing events for our children to partake in!”

“The Maccabi experience was by far the most phenomenal experience of my life. I loved being surrounded by other Jewish teens. I never wanted to leave and I cannot wait to go back next year.”
              -Team Westside Los Angeles Athlete

“Of all of the Musical Theater workshops that I have taken part in, nothing has left me feeling as fulfilled as JCC Maccabi ArtsFest. I was surrounded by teens who love the same things that I love. The artists all shared one very important thing– our Judaism. It is not often that hundreds of Jewish teens gather together to celebrate the arts!”
