Hanit Stern is new to the Westside JCC staff, she will be the JCamp B’Ivrit Program Coordinator to spearhead the new program. She is an innovative professional educator and camp administrator with over 10 years of experience in camp administration and creative curriculum development. From 2017 to 2018 Hanit was a Hebrew Teacher at Weizmann Day School and before that from 2012 to 2018 she served as the Registrar at Camp Ramah in California. She has been a Lead Nursey School Teacher at Valley Beth Shalom, a Lead Torah School Teacher at Temple Beth-Hillel and a Co-Teacher at Wilshire Temple Hebrew School. Hanit holds a certificate in Supervision and Administration for Early Childhood from UCLA Extension. She has a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Phoenix in Business and Management. Her Associate Teacher’s qualification is from Los Angeles Valley College, with major in Child Development. Hanit has been a member of the Center for Advance Research on Language Acquisition since 2002.

Edana Appel is a Jewish professional, born and raised in El Paso, TX, with an innate love for camping, Zionism and informal Jewish education. Her passion for children’s programming has been vibrant since her National Board service with Young Judaea and years of coaching swim team.  Her love of camp is unending spending every summer as a staff member at camp since 2001; from the kitchen to the pool to running JCamp at the Westside JCC. She holds an MBA in Non-Profit Management and an MA in Jewish Professional Leadership from Brandeis’ Heller/Hornstein program. Edana caught the Israel bug early and has visited 11 times and counting including spending a year there on Young Judaea’s Year Course. Outside of work she enjoys attending plyojam and visiting her nephews in Phoenix.
